Input Overvoltage Protection

The MFE accepts instantaneous voltage excursions up to 4kV (twice the generic requirement) and steady state AC voltages up to 300 VAC (found on poor, third world power grids). Through it all, its output voltage is maintained, and its loads protected.

Output Short Circuit Protection

The MFE protects itself, and system interconnects from output short circuits. During a short circuit, the MFE will limit its RMS current low enough to prevent its input fuses from clearing. It does this through active circuitry so recovery is instantaneous, and independent of temperature. No thermistors are used.

Worry Free PC Board Layout

The MFE is designed to be board mounted with very few constraints on the designer including high voltage spacing. The chassis has been designed with this in mind:

  • No mounting hardware is required
  • An insulating cover provides adequate creepage & clearance for primary and secondary conductors.
