Custom Power Systems was founded in 1985 by a team of power professionals who had been working together in the power systems industry for over 10 years. Their goal was to create a technical and sales support facility in New York which could support the customer during the product design phase, with manufacturing performed in Mexico. The common theme over the years was the fact that the customer invariably wanted a modified version of a standard product.

However the typical corporate structure discouraged "specials". Custom Power Systems pioneered the concept of a fully digitized drawing system. From the beginning, all drawings were drawn on a CAD system, enabling changes to be made quickly and easily. This has also given us a digitized library of standard components, circuits and techniques which we can use to create virtually any specialized power supply. The new system dramatically cut the time and cost required to develop new products.
